Avene Eau Thermale – Thermal Spring Water Review

Avene Eau Thermale – Thermal Spring Water Review

I feel a bit silly writing how much I love this product because I remember the time precisely (before purchasing this Water Spray) when I was walking around Priceline and couldn’t understand why someone would pay $10 for a can of water?! I used to think Avene just poured water into a bottle and sold it to us, sort of like selling air in a can. It wasn’t until recently when I went away to Batemans Bay and the weather turned on a scorcher, that I grabbed one of these Avene Eau Thermale sprays. (perhaps in desperation).

Upon reading up on the ingredients and benefits, I discovered that this water comes from a Thermal Spring- Saint Odile spring is located in a small town of Avene in France.

Thermal water is naturally mineralized water whose healing properties make it suitable for therapeutic use. It has a set of characteristics that make it propitious to health and is recognized to be of public interest by the French National Academy of Medicine.

Avene Eaut Thermale soothes and calms sensitive skin, Suitable for all degrees of sensitivity. Offers instant relief. Gentle enough for use on face and body. Suitable for infants and adults

Dermatological uses: Reduces inflammation in Eczema, Dermatitis & Psoriasis.

Avène Thermal Spring Water originates as rain. However, the 40-year journey through the Cevennes Mountain aquifer produces thermal spring water ideally suited for the care and management of sensitive skin.

It gradually becomes infused with trace elements and silicates, achieving a perfectly balanced mineral composition ideal for sensitive skin. Avène soothes, softens, and restores skin’s natural balance. Over 300 stringent biological, pharmacological and clinical studies have clearly demonstrated the skin-healing and soothing benefits of Avène Thermal Spring Water. Even beyond sensitive skin treatment, this therapy has been used for centuries at the Hydrotherapy Center to address a variety of more severe dermatological conditions such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, ichthyosis and burns.

The Avène skincare brand was created to capture the same healing benefits to soothe sensitive skins worldwide. Formulated with Avène Thermal Spring Water and bottled directly from the source of the spring, the Avène skincare brand addresses the needs of all types of sensitive skin.

I use mine on hot days, to help me cool down before bed (it’s currently sitting on my bedside table) and when I go out on a  hot day. To say it short and simply, I love this thermal water and I do think it helps soothe my skin.

Have you used Avene Eau Thermale? What do you think of it?

I saw this heavily discounted in Priceline. Plus the lone 300ml can looked sad on the shelf all by itself, so I bought it. I had my initial reservations and thought buying a can of spring water in a can was a tad wanky, but I have been obsessed with face masks recently, and at the very least, I thought this would be a convenient way of applying just the right amount of moisture to my face before I apply my mask/treatment.

It was quite a warm day today, so I sprayed some on my face for the hell of it. The fine mist of cool water was just lovely (but not life-changing, okay, it’s just water in a can)! It dried quickly enough for me to go about my day. Great.

BUT THEN… I was left very pleasantly surprised how lovely, soft and glowy my skin was as a result. I have highly temperamental combination skin that gets easily irritated by the tonne of products I punish it with. God, I hate combination skin. It’s oily and shiny as f**k but dry and flaky at the same time. It’s a see-saw of trying to dry my breakouts out, then undoing the drying with hydrating products that cause me to break out again. It’s a vicious cycle.

This stuff is like zen in a can. Water is so damn simple. But who would think it would be so effective? After spraying this on a couple times, it’s almost as if my face has breathed out a massive sigh of relief and for the first time in years, calmed the heck down. I’m not as red or about-to-break-out like I usually am this time of night. There’s no other way to accurately describe the effect of the super-gentle hydration but “lovely”. Sometimes the most subtle changes are the best. I like it. I like it a lot!
